Victoria,

British Columbia

Victoria, B.C. is a delightful ferry ride away from Port Angeles. The city is charming and very walkable. We went on Labour Day (same day as our Labor Day), hearing speeches and demonstrations on the lawn outside Parliament (not in session), seeing craftspeople set up around the harbour, and listening to music throughout. The Habour Ferries put on a ballet, though we saw only the preview. We toured the Parliament building, walked downtown, to Beacon Hill Park, Cook Street Village, along the harbour, past Float Home Village, and back to the inner harbour downtown. Lunch in Chinatown was the best dim sum we’d ever had. Factoid: Joseph Strauss designed Olympia’s Johnson Street Bridge, very different from his Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco!
